Someone coughs on the bus: do you hold breath and plan escape?
I notice it, but I don't change what I'm doing unless there's a clear reason to.
I might instinctively glance over or give them a little space, then move on.
Someone coughing immediately gets my attention, and I start thinking about how close they are to me.
I often hold my breath, move away, or look for another seat without even thinking about it.
A single cough can put me on full alert, and my first instinct is figuring out the fastest way to get away.
